Vacaville Man Shot In Head During Family Argument

VACAVILLE (CBS SF) -- Vacaville police said a man who was shot in the head during a heated family argument Wednesday morning survived surgery and was in stable condition Thursday.

The unidentified 21-year-old man had not regained consciousness as of Thursday afternoon, Sgt. Jeff King said.

The shooting happened in a residence in the 100 block of Kingsland Court in south Vacaville. Police responded around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The young man and a 67-year-old man were struggling over a handgun when it discharged, King said.

The man, who also lives at the residence, suffered shortness of breath and was taken to a hospital but has been released, King said.

Police have responded before to calls at the residence but none involved violence, King said.

King said he did not want to discuss what the argument was about because the shooting victim is unable to communicate.
