(KBCW/CBS) - Forget for minute about the talk about a Wonder Woman series making it's way to the CW. In actuality, it has been confirmed that the famous Amazon Princess will be on the big screen on the upcoming and untitled "Man of Steel," Zach Snyder's sequel that includes Ben Affleck as "Batman" and Henry Cavill as Superman.

On Wednesday, Warner Bros. announced the casting of 28 year-old, Israel-born actress Gal Gadot in the role of Wonder Woman in the sequel. A former "Miss Israel," Gadot has also been seen in several of the "Fast & Furious" films and on an episode of HBO's "Entourage."

With the announcement of Wonder Woman's inclusion to the movie, a full gathering of DC Comics' Justice League could be in the works. This opens the doors of possibly casting appearances for current DC characters such as Stephen Amell who plays "Arrow" (Green Arrow) or actor Grant Gustin as "The Flash." Gustin makes his appearance on The CW's "Arrow" Wednesday night as "Barry Allen," alter-ego of "The Flash." KBCW 44 Cable 12 features "Arrow" in the Bay Area.

Wonder Woman was portrayed by Lynda Carter on the 1970's hit television series and in several animated featured films and television shows since then. Currently, The CW's plans are on hold for a television series titled "Amazon," rumored to be the "Smallville" version for Wonder Woman.

In a statement, director Zach Snyder said "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role."

The "Man of Steel" sequel is scheduled to start production in early 2014 and released in 2015.
