SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed while crossing Van Ness Avenue near San Francisco City Hall Tuesday evening, police said.
The victim had been in an altercation on the west side of Van Ness near Grove Street around 6:20 p.m. and then ran across Van Ness, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
