Oakland's Restaurant Week Review: Chop Bar
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - During the 4th Annual Oakland Restaurant Week, day 6 of the 10 day event, CBS San Francisco's Akilah Bolden-Monifa attended another featured restaurant, "Chop Bar," located near Jack London Square in Oakland.
Co-owned by Chris Pastena of "Tribune Tavern," Chop Bar seats about 50 people, exclusive of the bar. It is much smaller & cozier than Tribune Tavern.

You can't help but notice their prominent sign "Eat More Bacon" which my dinner mate did by ordering the "Chop Bar" Bloody Mary and "Baconizing" it. Really, it is a meal in and of itself.

Let's start with dessert first, TCHO Chocolate Bread Pudding and Banana Split. The perfect amounts, although we didn't finish either, though they were delicious.
This time we skipped the prix fixe, tempting though it was and ordered the arugula salad with pears with candied almonds (pictured at the top) and Point Reyes Bleu Cheese for $9 as one entree and Roasted Chicken with pumpkin seed mole and black beans for $18 as the other.

My "refresher" was Bunderberg Ginger Beer which could become my new addiction.
Mellow vibe, good service, nearly a full restaurant but we didn't have to wait. Left to the staff celebrating the birthday of one of the servers.
