Morrissey Kicks Off 2014 U.S. Tour In San Jose

(RADIO.COM) - Morrissey, blood still boiling over Princes Harry and William's recent hunting trip to Spain, is set to leave merry old England behind for a spell as he plots a full-scale American tour for 2014.

The tour, which kicks off on May 7 at the City National Civic Auditorium in San Jose will boast two incredibly high-profile opening acts when it hits Los Angeles and New York. For the L.A. date, Moz will be joined by none less than Welsh vocal legend Tom Jones, best known for hit songs from the 1960s including "What's New Pussycat?" and "It's Not Unusual" (in 1988, he teamed up with Art of Noise for a cover of Prince's "Kiss" that hit No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100).

When Morrissey wraps up the tour at Brookyn's Barclay Center, his opening act will be UK pop icon Cliff Richard, who in 2008 celebrated 50 years of making records and just last year released his 100th studio album, The Fabulous Rock 'n' Roll Songbook.

Longtime Morrissey opening act Kristeen Young will also appear at the L.A. and N.Y. shows. As of press time, there was no indication who will be appearing on the remaining dates.

The singer's tour news follows the recent announcement that he'd signed a two-album deal with the Capitol/Harvest label, and that fans can expect a new full-length sometime in the second half of 2014.
