Enjoy The Best of Two Worlds At Lungomare In Jack London Square

(CBS SF) - Not quite a hat trick, but since I reviewed Chop Bar and Tribune Tavern, thought I would add another venture from the same owners, Lungomare. Located in Jack London Square with valet parking or the option of street parking of self-parking in the garage.

Lungomare, Italian food from Tuscany, is spacious and beautiful, right on the waterfront with incredible views. The hostesses greeted me warmly as did the GM, Tommy Cummings. I arrived earlier than my reservation time so I could observe how others were treated and it was delightful. Seemed like a few regulars came through on Friday night as well. They had live music which was nice to hear in the background.

But, on to the food. The menu changes daily with emphasis on localism so my dining companion opted for the local Hanger One Vodka Martini with 3 olives. I am not a martini girl, but she reported that it was great.

For the antipasti we shared an arugula salad with fennel, blood orange, baby artichoke, goat cheese, and citrus vinaigrette. It was an excellent blend. Simultaneously we had the crudo, an orgasmic halibut with blood orange and mint.

For second, my dining companion continued with the halibut, cardoon and potato puree, agrodolce, and pea sprouts. She savored it all but did share a bite with me. I had the hanger steak, crushed olive oil potatoes, turnips, with roasted sunchokes.

For dessert we split an apple and quince crostata with vanilla gelato.

We didn't have wine, but the wine list was extensive.

Two regrets: one, I lost my leftover hanger steak (my dining companion commented that the sign of a great meal is when you are still thinking about it the next day and we both were) and two, I failed to take a picture of our dessert, pretty and delicious.

I would highly recommend all 3 restaurants. They will not disappoint.
