Larry Magid: Apple Could Make Texting While Walking Safer

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Apple wants to make it safer for people who like to text while walking. The question is: is this a good thing?

Apple has filed a patent that basically allows you to see through the phone as you text. The phone's rear camera would take a picture of whatever's in your path. Since you'll be looking at your phone's screen, in theory you should be able to not bump into things.

Apple Could Make Texting While Walking Safer

It's pretty simple as far as the technology goes, but it might not be the greatest idea when you're walking around Downtown San Francisco. "It's a deathwish," KCBS evening drive anchor Patti Reising said.

I've been guilty of it myself, but I think it's best to be present while walking. Having said that, I've never texted while driving, which is never an okay thing to do.
