SFPD Arrest Woman In Hit & Run Of Elderly Pedestrian In SF Visitacion Valley
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF)— A woman was arrested Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed an elderly woman crossing the street in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley neighborhood last month.
Police said officers arrested 31-year-old Nidra Stubbs at her San Francisco home around 11:45 a.m. Thursday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
Stubbs was booked into San Francisco County Jail and was later released on bail.
Her arrest stemmed from an investigation into the March 20th collision that killed 82-year-old San Francisco woman Oi Yeung.
Yeung was crossing the street at Bayshore Boulevard and Visitacion Avenue around 11:15 a.m. when Stubbs allegedly struck her in her Dodge Durango, according to police.
The suspect fled and Yeung was pronounced dead at the scene.
San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon issued a statement the day of the collision expressing his condolences to the victim's family and urging motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to be careful.
San Francisco Police spokesman Albie Esparza said it's tragic when someone loses their life on the streets like that, but that it does help when the person responsible is put behind bars.
