ConsumerWatch: Company Helps Air Travelers Get Compensation
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) -- Travelers who get bumped off a flight are entitled to more compensation than they might think. And a company called AirHelp aims to help them collect it, by submitting the claim and providing evidence of problems to the airline. If Airhelp is successful, it keeps 25% of the compensation.
Passengers who get bumped off flights that originate in the U.S. are entitled to up to $1300 in compensation. Passengers whose flight originate in Europe have even more protections: they can collect up to $800 when flights are delayed more than two hours or cancelled, or if the traveler is bumped.
The founders of AirHelp say only 2% of travelers eligible for compensation apply for it.
