5 Juveniles Arrested For Attacking Man Jogging Near San Leandro Park

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- Officers arrested five juveniles for attacking and attempting to rob a man jogging home near Memorial Park in San Leandro early Saturday morning, a police lieutenant said.

The victim was heading home on Callan Avenue after friends dropped him off on Bancroft Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. when a group of juveniles ran after him and demanded his property, according to San Leandro police Lt. Randall Brandt.

The victim tried to run away, but the juveniles caught up with him, Brandt said.

One suspect punched the victim repeatedly in the face, according to Brandt.

The victim was able to escape and reported the incident to police, the lieutenant said.

Officers were able to locate the five suspects in the area and the victim positively identified them, Brandt said.
