1 Killed, 1 Hurt In Richmond Shooting

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- One man was killed and another injured in a shooting in Richmond Sunday evening, a police lieutenant said.

Police responded around 5:45 p.m. to several reports of shots fired near the intersection of Virginia Avenue and South 12th Street, where they found a man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, according to Lt. Andre Hill.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.

Hill said a second man arrived at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Richmond around the same time suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was listed in stable condition as of 9 p.m.

Police have not released the identity of the man killed and do not have a suspect description.

Investigators believe a lone shooter opened fire after an argument with the two victims escalated, Hill said.

He said the shooting appears to have stemmed from a "neighborhood dispute" and that the victims and shooter likely knew one another prior to the argument.

The murder is believed to be Richmond's sixth homicide this year and comes a day after a 31-year-old San Francisco man was shot and killed on Interstate Highway 580 in Richmond, according to Hill.
