5 Injured In Rollover Crash Near Oakland's Mill College

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Five people, including four who had to be extricated, were injured in a rollover accident Sunday morning near the campus of Mills College in Oakland, according to the Oakland Fire Department.

The collision was reported around 2:18 a.m. at Seminary Avenue near Outlook Avenue on the east side of the Mills campus, firefighters said.

The vehicle, with five people inside, apparently collided with several trees, according to Battalion Chief Emon Usher.

The vehicle rolled over and four of the people remained trapped inside, while one was able to get out, Usher said.

The Fire Department's extrication team quickly arrived and removed the four injured patients from the vehicle within 15 minutes, according to Usher.

The fifth victim was found blocks away from the accident near the intersection of 55th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard on the south end of the Mills campus, although it was not clear why the person was there, Usher said.

All five people were transported to area hospitals, three to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley and two to Highland Hospital in Oakland, Usher said.

The conditions of the victims were not immediately available.
