Bollywood Film Breaks Cultural Barrier With First Ever Gay Character

NEW DELHI, INDIA (CBS SF) -- Bollywood's conservative culture produces movies depicting no forms of affection, not even an on-screen kiss, however filmmakers may break conservative boundaries and create the first gay character.

Bollywood director, Hansal Mehta is expected to direct the film and cast Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the gay lead.

Siddiqui told IndiaToday, "Yes, we're in talks and I'm very keen to play the role. I have no problem playing a gay character, and in any case, I have been wanting to work with Hansal Mehta for a long time."

Siddiqui, a supporter of gay rights, added, "Homosexuality is not new, it has been there for ages. Yes, even in remote villages, there's nothing wrong or abnormal about it!"
