Daily Madden: Bocce Trash Talk With Steve Mariucci

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - John Madden's team will attempt to defend their title in the annual Madden-Mariucci Battle of the Bay Charity Bocce Tournament in Livermore Wednesday.

"I'm your worst nightmare," NFL analyst and former coach Steve Mariucci told Madden.

"You're what you call a walkover," Madden replied.

Mariucci disclosed he visited a chiropractor after a practice round over the weekend. Madden criticized the strategy.

"He practices on Sunday," John told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "He gets all his angles down, he gets all his bends down, he gets his stance down... Now he goes to a chiropractor. So now the chiropractor throws him all out of alignment. So the stuff that he worked on Sunday he can't use."

Madden threatened not to play for his team Wednesday.

"I'd like to go out like John Elway did. You know, the last game that you play is the Super Bowl and you win that and you just walk off into the sunset. I'm kind of thinking of doing that. You can't beat me if I don't play... You're a nice guy, you've got a nice little game, but not quite good enough."

Four dozen amateur teams will compete in the event, which has raised more than four million dollars for youth charities. (6:05)
