Woman Accused of Sexually Assaulting Student At Oakland School Ordered To Undergo Mental Evaluation

OAKLAND (CBS SF)— An Oakland woman accused of sexually assaulting and beating a 9-year-old girl with a hammer inside a bathroom at an elementary school last month will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

The Contra Costa Times reports 48-year-old Haseemah Diame appeared in Alameda County Superior Court on Friday to enter a plea, but a judge postponed the hearing to July 11th so she could undergo a mental evaluation.

Diame allegedly forced the girl into a bathroom at Lafayette Elementary School pulled down her pants and then penetrated her vagina with the hammer.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the attack though school officials have said that it may have resulted from a feud between the families of the victim and the suspect.
