Man Suspected In Roommate Stabbing Inside Vacaville Home Arrested In San Francisco

VACAVILLE (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of stabbing his roommate at their Vacaville home on Tuesday was arrested Wednesday morning in San Francisco, a Vacaville police lieutenant said.

Albert Whitefeather Careyette Jr., 51, turned himself in at the San Francisco Police Department's Mission Station, police Lt. Matt Lydon said.

Careyette allegedly stabbed his 53-year-old roommate, who called police around 5 p.m. Tuesday to report an attack that occurred during an argument in their home in the 100 block of Catalpa Lane, police said.

Officers found the victim with critical stab wounds lying in his front yard. He was taken to Kaiser Permanente Napa-Solano Hospital in Vacaville, police said.

Police sent out a countywide alert to law enforcement to be on the lookout for Careyette, who fled the residence in a black, four-door 2004 Honda Accord.

After Careyette turned himself in, Vacaville police detectives went to San Francisco to interview him and he agreed to be booked into jail in San Francisco, Lydon said.

Police have been to the roommates' residence several times in the past and there were weapons in the house, Vacaville city spokesman Mark Mazzaferro said.
