Watsonville Man Suspected In Stun Gun Attack Against Female Acquaintance

WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) -- The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office has an arrest warrant for a Watsonville man who attacked, punched and used a stun gun on a female acquaintance early Saturday before fleeing the area, deputies said.

John "Johnny" Campos, 50, is wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, according to the sheriff's office.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, Campos for an unknown reason attacked the acquaintance at his residence in Watsonville, punching and choking her and using a stun gun on her multiple times, deputies reported.

The victim, who suffered moderate injuries from the assault, was able to fight the suspect off, leave his home and notify deputies.

The sheriff's office served a search warrant to enter Campos' residence, seized several items of evidence and then obtained the arrest warrant, according to deputies.

Campos, who has an extensive criminal history and is considered dangerous, fled the area after the assault, deputies said.

Deputies describe him as Hispanic, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the office's Investigation Division at (831) 454-7611 or call sheriff's dispatch at (831) 471-1121
