SF Bomb Squad Called To Investigate Suspicious Device In Richmond District

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The San Francisco Police Department bomb squad responded to an Outer Richmond home where a person cleaning out the residence of their recently deceased relative found a suspicious device Saturday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

The device was reported at a home in the 500 block of 40th Avenue between Anza Street and Geary Boulevard shortly before 9:40 a.m., San Francisco police spokeswoman Danielle Newman said.

The relative who found the suspicious item initially called Recology for recycling of the device, but was instructed by Recology to contact police.

The police department's bomb squad arrived at the scene to dispose of the device.
