Former 49er Who Became Homeless After Football Career Gets Help From Past Coach

SANTA MONICA (KPIX 5) -- A former 49er who was part of the team's first Super Bowl win in 1981 was left homeless after concussions ended his NFL career, and left him homeless is getting his life back thanks to a coach.

So, Terry Tautolo's old teammates put out a call for help.

That help arrived with Dick Vermeil – the coach who recruited Tautolo to play UCLA football in 1974 and drafted him into the NFL. Vermeil found Tautolo again 40 years later to make the comeback of a lifetime.
