Survivor Lead Singer Jimi Jamison Dies From a Heart Attack

MEMPHIS, TN (CBS SF) – Lead singer of the band Survivor Jimi Jamison died after suffering a heart attack at his home in Memphis, Tennessee. According to TMZ, the singer died Sunday, one day after performing at a benefit show with his band in Morgan Hill. He was 63.

Survivor is best known for the song Eye of The Tiger which was recorded by the band's first lead singer David Bickler. After developing polyps on his vocal chords, Bickler left the band and Jamison then took his place. Jamison performed with the band from 1984 through 1988. Among his best known hits with Survivor included High On You and The Search Is Over. As a solo artist, Jamison is also known for penning the theme song to the hit television series Baywatch.

Survivor last performed together at CANcert, a benefit show at the Downtown Amphitheater in Morgan Hill on Saturday, August 30th. The show was presented by ARTTEC, a not for profit educational organization. According to RollingStone.com, the band was scheduled to go on the road on September 12 in Parker, Colorado.
