Couple Charged With Child Endangerment Stemming From Backyard Pot Grow In Sonoma County
WINDSOR (CBS SF)_ A Windsor couple will be arraigned Monday on child endangerment charges after Sonoma County sheriff's deputies found evidence on Wednesday of a hash laboratory and marijuana grow in their home, a sheriff's sergeant said.
Deputies found more than 100 marijuana plants in a garage and in the backyard of the home on Pedroncelli Drive, and chemicals and butane used to make hash oil, Sgt. Cecile Focha said.
There was an active butane extraction hash oil laboratory in the back yard, and loaded weapons and canisters and containers of hazardous chemicals within reach of the 4- and 2-year old children in the home, Focha said.
When deputies went to the home for a probation search on 29-year-old Marcus Osuna-Jones, they smelled marijuana plants growing in the backyard, Focha said.
Megan Gibbons, 27, greeted the deputies with an aggressive pitbull and told the deputies Osuna-Jones was not home, Focha said. Jones, however entered the house through a back door before the deputies left, Focha said.
Deputies also found an unlocked refrigerator filled with packaged candies laced with marijuana and other snacks mixed with marijuana in the kitchen, Focha said.
Child Protective Services took the two children into protective custody, and three dogs on the property were taken by Sonoma County Animal Care and Control, Focha said.
Osuna-Jones was arrested for child endangerment, operating a hash oil laboratory, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, cultivation, sales and possession of concentrated cannabis and violating his probation, Focha said.
Gibbons was arrested for child endangerment and obstructing a police officer, Focha said.
They posted bail and will be arraigned Monday morning in Sonoma County Superior Court.
