3 Critically Injured, Others Hurt In Deck Collapse At Oakland Hills Home

OAKLAND (KCBS) -- Three people were critically injured and at least six more were injured when the deck of an Oakland Hills home collapsed.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that it happened around 7 p.m. Saturday at a home on Outlook Avenue.

People were on the deck that gave way and a couple of people were trapped. The people injured had wounds that were not life-threatening.

Three of them suffered critical injuries, including broken legs, and were taken to local hospitals by ambulances. About six others suffered moderate injuries, and one or two others refused medical treatment.

The cause of the collapse is under investigation.

City building inspectors were requested to respond to the scene but officials say they were treating it as an unfortunate accident.
