Woman Dies In 2-Alarm Santa Rosa House Fire

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- The Santa Rosa Fire Department reports it is investigating a two-alarm fire that killed a woman in her home on Saturday night.

The fire in the two-story Victorian was reported at 131 11th St., around 9:20 p.m.

Firefighters report accessing the first floor of the home was difficult due to the volume and arrangement of personal belongings, and that doors and windows on both floors were blocked by storage items.

Ultimately, the fire department reports that holes had to be made in the walls, and that firefighters had to crawl over the top of the storage items in order to control the blaze.

An older woman who lived in the home was found, dead, under some debris in the kitchen area once the fire was controlled.

A preliminary investigation of the fire has determined that the cause was accidental.

The woman's name has not yet been released.
