Crews Rescue Dog From San Pablo Apartment Fire

SAN PABLO (CBS SF) -- A dog was rescued from a one-alarm fire at an apartment in San Pablo on Monday afternoon, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman said.

The fire was reported around 2:20 p.m. at a two-story apartment in the 1400 block of Bush Avenue, according to Fire Inspector George Laing.

The residents of the apartment were out of the home and at work when the fire broke out but a dog inside had to be rescued, Laing said.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in less than 10 minutes and were able to keep it from spreading to the second floor.

It does not appear that the residents will be displaced because of the fire damage, Laing said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
