Half Dome Climbers Capture Unique Perspective On Yosemite Base Jump

YOSEMITE (CBS SF) - A pair of friends climbing Yosemite National Park's Half Dome captured a stunning moment as they neared the summit - a sunrise base jump.

The television show Right This Minute reports that Brian Santilena and Jim Redo undertook a three day face climb of Half Dome to raise money for Wounded Warriors. As they neared the jutting "diving board" feature at the top of the face, two men - wearing winged suits - leaped off. Brian talked to the show about the adrenaline rush of seeing the jump.

"At first we thought that someone had just jumped off. We thought it was the end for them," said Santilena. "It looked like a squirrel flying at us until they flattened out."

Here's the video and interview with Brian:

It's not clear who the jumpers were, and they'd probably like to keep it that way. The stunt is illegal.
