Father, Son Die After Being Pulled From Water At SF Ocean Beach

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A father and his adult son died after being pulled from the water at San Francisco's Ocean Beach on Wednesday.

The two men were identified as 47-year-old Jose Garcia, of Stanislaus County, and 24-year-old Jose Garcia Jr., of Merced, according to the San Francisco medical examiner's office.

They were reported to be in distress near the Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant at 1000 Great Highway at about 3:45 p.m., according to the fire department.

Three people were initially reported in distress, but one was pulled from the water before firefighters arrived and was not seriously injured.

The elder Garcia and his son were both taken to separate hospitals while emergency responders performed CPR, fire officials said.

The medical examiner's office confirmed today that both died in the hospital after the rescue.
