Police Looking For Daring Suspect Who Stole Wheels Off Car At Palo Alto Civic Center Lot

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Palo Alto police are seeking a man who brazenly stole the wheels off of a car in the city's Civic Center parking lot on Sept. 19 under the noses of parking officers, police said Thursday.

The man, who was wearing a knit cap, is seen in a surveillance video stealing all four wheels from the car on the underground parking lot's B-level during the afternoon, Palo Alto police said.

The suspect left with the car's wheels and is still at large, officers said.

The theft happened even though the three-level lot, located beneath the city's main administrative offices at 250 Hamilton Ave, is patrolled regularly by police parking enforcement officers and other police personnel, according to police.

The department is asking anyone with information about the suspect to call its 24-hour dispatch center at (650) 329-2413, or call or text anonymous tips at (650) 383-8983.
