9 Segway Scooters Stolen In Petaluma

PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- Petaluma police are seeking the public's help in locating property from a trailer worth tens of thousands of dollars.

The trailer, owned by Segway Tours of Petaluma, was stolen from a parking lot at a Sheraton Sonoma County - Petaluma hotel at 745 Baywood Drive near Lakeville Highway sometime between Sept. 26 and Thursday, police Lt. Tim Lyons said.

Nine Segways in addition to audio and video equipment were inside the trailer and all the property costs about $71,000, he said.

The trailer is described as a white 2014 Haulmark 14-foot trailer with California license plate 4NB4219.

The theft was not reported until Thursday afternoon, Lyons said.

A Sonoma County sheriff's deputy located the trailer on Friday morning at Adobe and Stage Gulch roads east of Petaluma however the Segways and equipment were missing, according to Lyons.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Petaluma police Detective Wirtz at (707) 778-4372.
