SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Commuters who factored in the usual lighter traffic across the Bay Bridge this Friday likely found themselves turning up late to work after a painfully slow commute from the East Bay.
Newly-installed steel plates on the upper deck caused speeds to slow significantly, and backed up traffic beyond the toll plaza well into the 9:00 a.m. hour.
The timing of the delay, was particularly troubling to those who remembered what happened on the upper deck of the Bay Bridge 25 years ago.
As of 9:30 a.m., the KCBS Traffic map indicated that the delays were beginning to ease. Get the latest conditions here.
