Apple Pay Allegedly Double-Charged Bank Of America Customers

(CBS SF) -- Some Bank of America customers are claiming they're been double-charged on transactions made using Apple Pay.

According to CNN's Samuel Burke, an item he bought at Whole Foods with Apple Pay appeared twice on his bank statement Tuesday -- one day after Apple rolled out it's new mobile-payment system. Reddit users also reported the same problem.

Burke said he called Bank of America to report the mistake, but was told it was a problem with Apple. After calling Apple's help line, a customer service representative told him there was "nothing they could do about it," since the company does not keep a record of transactions for security reasons.

His money was eventually refunded after he got Apple and Bank of America talking together in a three-way-call.

Bank of America later tweeted that it was working to fix the problem.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but told the HuffPost in an emailed statement: "We're aware of a Bank of America issue impacting a very small number of Apple Pay users. They're working on a fix that will be available shortly and reversing any duplicate transactions."

Meanwhile, Bank of America told HuffPost that the issue affected "only about 1000 transactions" and that all customers affected by the issue will be refunded, including overdraft fees.
