Authorities Clear Petaluma Duck Farm Of Wrongdoing After Video Surfaces

PETALUMA (CBS SF)_ Authorities have cleared a Sonoma County duck farm of any wrongdoing related to animal cruelty.

A team of animal experts, veterinarians and county sheriff's officials toured the Reichardt Duck Farm in Petaluma Wednesday after an animal rights organization released a video alleging widespread abuse of the animals at the farm.

The video released by the Los Angeles based Mercy for Animals shows graphic images of ducklings getting their beaks burned, living in tight cages and getting their necks snapped when they were sick or unhealthy.

The investigation team concluded the duck farm was compliant with industry standards and consistent with the treatment of animals being raised to become food.
