OAKLAND (CBS SF) — Oakland’s mayoral race became fodder for late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who on Monday caught wind of one candidate with a bizarre stance on the digital divide, among other things.
This years’s 15-candidate race, which previously included a dog named Einstein, feature incumbent Mayor Jean Quan, councilmembers Rebecca Kaplan, Libby Schaaf and this guy: Peter Liu, a 33-year-old Iraq War veteran who brandishes a handgun on his Oakland Mayor candidate profile page and who used the word “f-ck” ten times in his written statement for the oaklandmayor2014.com website.
Jimmy Kimmel On Oakland Mayoral Candidate’s Masturbation Stance
Kimmel found Liu’s solution to bridge the digital divide between Oakland residents most amusing. On the candidate’s website, Liu said, “When your son says ‘Mommy, Daddy, I need Internet access for homework.’ This really translates to: ‘I am gonna masturbate online while my parents at work, yo.’ If you have a daughter, f-ck, I wouldn’t even think about letting them access the Internet with all these kids ‘sexting’ these days and even some horny teachers got involved in it, too.”
The self-proclaimed self-made millionaire told the San Francisco Chronicle he was motivated to run by a relative who “called me a piece of sh-t” and because God asked him to.
But Kimmel didn’t bring up Liu’s answer on how he would improve bicyclist safety and infrastructure. “An alternative form of transportation I support is horses,” Liu said. “I am an animal lover and those ponies are cute. With my trusty horse sidekick, HORSEY, I’ll ride like a western cowboy slinging revolvers and my horse shit all over Oakland grass patches as natural fertilizer for the trees and flowers.”
Liu’s experience for overseeing Oakland’s budget is also worth mentioning. “I can count from 1 to 10 with my fingers so a 10 digit number is no problem for me,” he said. “I am the world’s smartest leader, give me a trillion-dollar budget and I’ll do it like Picasso.”
