Friday's BART Ridership Ranked Third All-Time Due To Halloween, World Series Parade

(CBS SF) -- BART officials said Friday's ridership ranked as the third highest in the agency's history as trains took crowds to the San Francisco Giants' World Series parade and various Halloween festivities.

BART officials said the agency served 511,641 trips on Friday, short of the highest ridership day exactly two years earlier.

On Oct. 31, 2012, the day of the Giants' 2012 World Series celebration, BART trains took riders on 568,061 trips, according to the agency.

The second busiest day in BART history was on Nov. 3, 2010, the day of the 2010 World Series parade, with 522,198 trips served.

The previous third busiest day occurred on Aug. 29, 2013, when there were 475,015 trips during a Bay Bridge closure, BART officials said.BART officials said ridership was 436,669 on Oct. 17, a typical Friday for October.
