SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – As one election season is just wrapping up, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee already has his eyes on the November 2015 election.

Mayor Lee officially announced Thursday he will be running for a second term.

“I want to say very clearly that I am going to be running for re-election, and I’m honored to do that,” Lee said. “I’m honored to get the support of the Board of Supervisors I work so closely with and to continue what I think has been a wonderful level of dialogue of civility in City Hall.”

Lee said he enjoys the job and wants to continue delivering on promises, particularly because he said much of the last four years were about recovering from the recession, getting out of double digit unemployment and creating jobs.

“Now, the challenges are housing, transportation, affordability, making sure there are less evictions and celebrating the diversity in our city,” he said.

Lee said he talked to his family over the past few days and with the results of the election, including the passage of Proposition A and Proposition J, two measures he backed, the decision was made easier for him.

As for recent polls showing state Senator Mark Leno, who recently said he is considering a run, leading Lee, the mayor said he expects a lot of polls over the next year.
