Boreal Resort Opening Signals Start Of Sierra Ski Season

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - It might not feel like it in the Bay Area, but winter is on its way and it's bringing ski and snowboard season along for the ride.

The lifts started running at Boreal Ski Resort Friday morning, marking the first open lifts of the Tahoe winter season. Only four runs are open so far.

Mother Nature has provided more than 10 inches of snow in recent days, and the resort is manufacturing the rest. With little precipitation in the forecast in the coming days, it may still be a while before the season really gets running downhill.
