SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) — Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara is 445 days away. The big sporting event means big opportunities for local businesses, and entrepreneurs are already lining up for a slice of the action.

She’s never played football – but Vonda McPherson of Vonda’s Kitchen knows a little something about Super Bowls.

For Super Bowl XLVIII earlier this year, the National Football League used her New Jersey Restaurant and catering service to feed a tailgate party, for 11,000 people.

“Phenomenal, phenomenal experience,” McPherson recalled.

For McPherson, it was a big job, with a very big payoff. “My business has escalated. I’ve probably had a good 12 magazine articles written on me,” she said.

On Wednesday, Vonda was in San Francisco as part of the NFL’s Business Connect workshop, a chance for small businesses owners to get on board for Super Bowl 50, which will be held in the Santa Clara stadium in 2016.

“I’ve been in business for a long time – 21 years. I’m looking to take it to the next level, like she said, make my business work for me, not me work for it,” said Lenora Taylor, owner of Face & Body by Taylor.

Business owner Stacey Miller of The Go To Girls said, “It’s one of those opportunities of a lifetime. Especially for my personal concierge service, this would be absolutely limitless.”

It’s a business opportunity much like the Super Bowl itself, everything on the line, with a shot at greatness.

“Well to be honest with you, it’s the biggest job you’ll ever have. But more importantly, it’s the biggest stage you’ll ever be on, because you know the NFL is biggest game in the land,” McPherson said.
