Latest Round Of Storms Providing An Ideal Base For Tahoe Ski Resorts

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Ski resorts have to be clicking their skis together in joy thanks to this latest round of storms.

Winter Storm Warning in effect for Tuesday night thru Thursday 4am.

Snow levels are very high because you need to remember this is a very "wet" storm. Fat, heavy snowflakes. This is not dry, light snow flakes from a cold front. This is cement-like snow, but there will be a lot of it!

The snow level is at 7,000 feet.  Up to two feet of snow is expected by Thursday in the highest elevations. About a foot could fall at 7,000 feet.

So this means NO SNOW at Lake Level, to which I say, "that's ok!" it makes driving around Tahoe a lot easier! But do expect a rain/snow mix at Lake Level that will run off.

There will be chains required on the commute to Tahoe.

Overnight lows are very close to the freezing point, so I am sure the resorts will be making snow on top of the freshly fallen to create an amazing base! Snow will continue through Thursday morning, then highs in the 50s Friday through Sunday for ideal Spring-like Skiing and Boarding on a fresh base!
