Hundreds Of SFO Flights Cancelled As Bay Area Storm Intensifies
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The weather is creating havoc at San Francisco International airport Thursday morning with 233 incoming or outgoing cancellations already reported.
The canceled arrival and departure flights started picking up at 6 a.m., but the number could climb in the next hour if the Federal Aviation Administration could also institute a ground delay program to give planes more time to land.
Flight Aware reports 113 outgoing flights, and 123 arriving flights have been cancelled as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
At the same time, restaurant workers are picketing outside the airport with signs covered in plastic wrap to demand higher wages. About four out of five restaurants are represented by Unite Here Local 2 union, meaning there could be a shortage of food options for passengers with canceled or delayed flights.
No delays have been reported at Oakland International or Mineta San Jose International airports.
