49ers Kaepernick Says Farewell To Coach Jim Harbaugh In Emotional Instagram Post

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- The news that 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is indeed leaving after all the speculation hit home today for the players in the locker room, especially quarterback Colin Kaepernick who shared his feelings on social media.

He took to Instagram Monday afternoon to share some heartfelt well wishes as Harbaugh heads to Michigan.

"The coach that drafted me, chose to start me, and stood behind me through it all! I will never forget what you have done for me coach thank you for everything!" wrote Kapernick, with a photo of him hugging Harbaugh.

It was Harbaugh who handed Kaepernick the starting job in 2012 after former number 1 pick Alex Smith was injured. Kaepernick retained the starting job and eventually led the team to the Super Bowl, where they fell just short of winning the franchise's sixth title.

This season, Kapernick's perceived lack of development had been one of the major flash points for critics as the 49ers fell below .500. Amid the questions about Kaepernick's accuracy and leadership, Harbaugh continued to voice support for his signal caller.
