SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Tuesday for all coastal and valley locations of the San Francisco Bay Area as well as Santa Cruz County.

The advisory begins at noon today and extends to noon Wednesday.

Winds will be the strongest in the hills of the North Bay and East Bay and the strongest winds will start late Tuesday afternoon and go through Tuesday night.

The weather service is predicting sustained north to northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph for the area, with stronger gusts to 60 mph in the highest elevations.

The winds may cause trees and power lines to fall, resulting in power outages and make driving difficult, especially on bridges and especially for high profile vehicles.

Winds will gradually subside Wednesday.
