MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) — Mountain View police have arrested a man suspected of molesting a 6-year-old girl and possessing child pornography, police said Wednesday.

The girl’s mother contacted police and said she believed an acquaintance, identified as 47-year-old Jorge Huerta-Alvarez, was having an inappropriate relationship with her daughter, police said.

After an investigation, police arrested Huerta-Alvarez last Thursday on suspicion of molesting the girl and possession of child pornography, police said.

Huerta-Alvarez has lived in Mountain View for the past three years and investigators are looking into the possibility that there may be other victims in the area, police said.

Police are reminding residents to carefully screen anyone they are considering allowing into their home, particularly to do work or to move in as a roommate.

Anyone with further information about the case has been asked to contact Detective Marco Garcia at (650) 903-6395 and refer to case number 15-0035.
