Daly City Suburb Makes Top 10 List Of Hottest Neighborhoods In The Country In 2015

DALY CITY (KCBS) – An online real estate brokerage is predicting that a Daly City neighborhood will be one of the hottest in the country in 2015.

The Crocker neighborhood near the San Francisco border is ninth on Redfin's top 10 list of hottest neighborhoods for 2015.

"It's got a lot going for it in terms of its price point. The median price there is around $550,000 - $600,000, relative to San Francisco which is upwards of $1 million," said Redfin spokesperson Rod Goszkowski."

The list of neighborhoods ranks them in terms of growth and popularity leading into 2015, analyzing the number of page visits on the Redfin website , homes that are added as favorites, and the prevalence of "Hot Homes" as determined by the Redfin Hot Homes Algorithm. The analysis also takes into account insights from Redfin real estate agents.

"The reality is that fewer and fewer people can afford homes in the city proper," Goszkowski said. "So in the more affordable neighborhoods, there's a lot more people that are able to afford them, and there's more people shopping for them."

The median sale price for a home in the Crocker neighborhood is $590,000.

A recent Redfin homebuyer survey found that affordability is the biggest obstacle to owning a home, and many homebuyers are looking a bit outside the borders of a major metropolitan area to find their perfect home, while not sacrificing the conveniences of being close to an urban center.

The El Cerrito neighborhood in San Diego topped Redfin's 2015 list, with Crocker the only Bay Area representative.

The Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco made the 2014 list, and prices did indeed soar there.
