Phoenix Officially Hands Off Tiffany Tray, Golden Football To The Bay Area For Super Bowl 50

PHOENIX, Arizona (KPIX 5) -- It's official.

The Super Bowl 50 has been handed off to the Bay Area.

On a stage before Super Bowl XLIX fans in Phoenix, the torch was passed. Actually, it was more like a football hand-off.

In just a matter of moments, Phoenix Chair Dave Rousseau passed an engraved silver Tiffany tray and a golden football to Daniel Lurie, Super Bowl 50 Committee Chair. And so it was done.

"This is an exciting day… it's starting to hit me that we're going to be on the clock in a matter of about 36 hours," said Lurie. "The world's attention will be on the San Francisco Bay Area and that's a great place to be."

"I'm hoping San Francisco can make it to their own Super Bowl," said Brandon Barnum, of Hayward.

When asked if that could happen, Jed York told KPIX 5, "…I mean, right now, we just want to get better. We want to get ready for the draft. Obviously, that's everybody's dream … it's never happened before."
