EMERYVILLE (CBS SF ) – Bay Area brides-to-be can help in the fight against breast cancer and save big bucks on their bridal gown.
The Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour is coming to Emeryville on Saturday, March 7.
Hundreds of lightly used designer and brand name wedding gowns will be for sale at discounts from 25% to 85%. Eighty percent of the proceeds go to support cancer patients and their families.
The event is part of a 120-city tour organized by Brides Against Breast Cancer, a Florida non-profit. For the past 16 years, BABC has been spreading breast cancer awareness by providing free services for children, adults, families and caregivers affected by breast cancer. Education, nutrition, exercise, support and therapy are a few of the many programs and services they provide.
The average price of a gown is $600, but they range from $75-$1,800. Sizes range from 4-18 and most colors are available. The most popular gown styles are mermaid, lace, fit and flare and gowns with a “sweetheart” neckline.
The event will be held at The Hilton Garden Inn located at 1800 Powell Street in Emeryville. There is a VIP event that starts at 10:00 a.m. and the cost of admission is $20. General admission is from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and costs $5.
Sales events are happening across the country all year. Upcoming stops on the Nationwide Tour of Gowns include Birmingham, Raleigh, Baton Rouge, Denver, Oklahoma City, and Scottsdale. For more information and a list of cities visit their website, bridesagainstbreastcancer.org
