Police Look For Clues After Man Beaten On Head With Hammer In Watsonville

WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) -- Police are looking for more information on how a male victim was struck on the head by a hammer in Watsonville on Saturday afternoon.

An officer responded around 6:20 p.m. to the Watsonville Community Hospital emergency room on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred earlier, Sgt. Juan Trujillo said.

The officer learned the assault happened about two hours earlier on Main and East Beach streets where the victim was struck on the head by a hammer, Trujillo said.

The victim took himself to the hospital for treatment and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to Trujillo.

The victim was not cooperative with officers, police said.
