Daily Madden: The 49ers In 'Disarray'

Listen to the John Madden segment live weekday mornings at 8:15 and Monday and Friday mornings at 9:15 on KCBS All News 740 AM/106.9 FM

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — The Coach says that NFL free-agent talk has been in the air for some time and that many of the deals seem to have been made well ahead of time even though the official signings aren't until Tuesday.

He also addressed rumors reported in the media from Monday that 49er QB Colin Kaepernick was on the trading block.

Team manager Trent Baalke, released a statement early Monday morning refuting it. Madden said he doesn't think it would be a possibility but would discount it either.

"The 49ers are in disarray," he said. They have a whole heck of a lot of problems going on and it seems like everything that comes out of there is negative. I would say that's not a possibility, that that's not going to happen but I'm also the guy that said there's no ways they're going to get rid of Jim Harbaugh. So they have a history of doing things that I thought there's no way they're going to do it. I would say there's no way they're going to trade Kaepernick but that doesn't mean anything, does it?"

He also spoke about the loss of running back Frank Gore to the Colts--a team within the division.

"It seems to me that teams within the division tend to pay the players in the division more because they know him better and in essence they get a twofer—they get the player from the team in the division and then they get to hurt the team in the division by losing that player," he said.
