Santa Clara Police Say 49ers' Bruce Miller Pushed Fiancee Onto Ground, Smashed Her Phone

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) – Police in Santa Clara released additional details Thursday on last week's arrest of 49ers fullback Bruce Miller on suspicion of spousal battery.

According to a summary released by police, investigators said the suspect and victim were in a verbal argument near the Posh Bagel at Rivermark Plaza around 10:30 p.m. on March 5th. The suspect allegedly pushed the victim onto the ground and destroyed her cell phone.

Around 11:55 p.m., police arrested Miller two miles away at the Santa Clara Marriott on Mission College Boulevard. Miller was booked and was released on $10,000 bail.

Police told the San Jose Mercury News the victim was Miller's fiancée and that they were both engaged last August.

49ers general manager Trent Baalke was asked by the San Francisco Chronicle about the off-the-field troubles involving players. Eleven 49ers players have been arrested over the past three years.

"We understand the gravity of where we're at," Baalke told the Chronicle. "That's been well-documented over the past six to 12 months."

A court date for Miller is scheduled for next month.
