Ferrell Takes Posey's Usual Spot, Intentionally Walks Batter In Brief Giants Career

(CBS SF) – As part of Will Ferrell's day as a major leaguer, the comedian took the spot usually occupied by Buster Posey in the San Francisco Giants lineup on Thursday.

Ferrell arrived near the end of the Giants / White Sox game by helicopter shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday night, first wearing a Chicago White Sox uniform.

After arriving, he first batted for Chicago. Ferrell was able to foul a ball, but eventually struck out. He was then immediately traded to the Giants.

While wearing the Orange and Black, Ferrell caught an intentional walk by Jean Machi, the pitcher that struck him out moments earlier.

The Giants won the Cactus League game 7-4 and he was spotted celebrating with the team.

Ferrell began his playing career earlier in the day with the Oakland A's. He also played for the Chicago Cubs, Angels, Reds, Diamondbacks, Dodgers and Padres on Thursday.
