More Than 650 Photos of Nude, Semi-Nude Teens At Center Of East Bay High School Social Media Scandal
ORINDA (KCBS)— Another Bay Area high school has been rocked with a social media scandal involving several hundred sexually-explicit photos of teenagers in the Lamorinda area of Contra Costa County.
Orinda Police Chief Mark Nagel says there must have been more than 650 photos of nude or semi-nude teenagers found in a Dropbox account. The photos date back about four years, but it wasn't until a Miramonte High School student journalist brought the issue to light by writing a story that authorities acted in January.

The link is mostly shared among male students, and some even receive it for their birthdays. Some girls are in possession of the link as well.
Boys post pictures that they have received from girls that the girls have taken themselves. Other times the boy has taken the photo himself, or he screenshots a facetime or snapchat conversation.
Last month, Dropbox removed the photo gallery at the request of both Orinda and Moraga police. According to police, Dropbox saved and forwarded the images to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, in the event a victim was involved.
In 2012 Piedmont High School made headlines when it was discovered that teenage boys engaged in a so-called "sex fantasy" league in which boys gained points for participating in sexual activity with girls.
Miramonte High School is part of the Acalanes Union High School District. The district is reminding students that uploading nude photos of people under 18 years of age is a crime and violates child pornography laws.
