Best California Team Is 200-1 Bet To Win NCAA Tournament

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - One sure way to see your bracket busted is to bet on the local team going too far in the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Most Californians won't have that problem.

Not a single Northern California team appears in the field of 68 as March Madness prepares to tip off with the first round play-in games Tuesday. Should we adopt our neighbors to the south? Bookies say not if we want to root for the winner. According to gaming website Bovada, the Golden State will be lucky to have a single team still shaking it in "the dance" by this time next week.

Our best bet to win it all is San Diego State University at 200-1. They're the number 8 seed in the South region. The 11-time winners are 300-1 to win number 12 after barely making the field as a number 11 seed in the South. Both UCLA and SDSU were number four seeds.

Both of those teams are better off than U.C. Irvine. The Anteaters are 500-1 bets. They open in the East region as a 13 seed against 2013 tournament champions Louisville.

Kentucky is the overwhelming #1 bet at 6/5. Arizona is the second most likely victor at 15-2.

If you're wondering what happened to your local squad, check the NIT Tournament bracket. That's where you'll find Stanford, St. Mary's and UC Davis.
